Connect to your DeskPort computer

The iPad and iPhone app (and the Android client, currently in closed testing) require DeskPort on your computer. Standalone, unmodified Sunshine hosts and legacy Sunshine PIN pairing are not supported.

1. Install the free desktop app

Download DeskPort desktop from GitHub →

Choose a package for your computer and read its release notes and system requirements. Use a host-capable package: the Linux Flatpak is client-only and cannot share a desktop. Open DeskPort, enable Sharing, grant the permissions it requests for sharing, and keep the computer awake.

2. Connect and approve

  1. For initial setup, put your computer and mobile device on the same local network.
  2. Allow Local Network access on iPad/iPhone. Select the DeskPort computer card, or add a reachable address manually.
  3. Approve the device request in DeskPort on the computer.
  4. Open the paired computer to enter its desktop. If another client is connected, review the takeover prompt before confirming.

Work with your desktop

Use direct touch gestures or select Trackpad mode in the device settings. The on-screen keyboard offers modifier and navigation keys. Each saved computer has its own picture, audio, input and desktop preferences. Desktop sizing depends on host capabilities. Session controls let you disconnect without shutting down the computer.

Cannot find or connect?

Confirm DeskPort is running with Sharing enabled on the computer. Check Local Network permission, the firewall, the saved address and whether the devices can reach each other. Guest Wi-Fi may isolate devices. Install a current DeskPort desktop release if the client reports missing host capabilities. Installing standalone Sunshine is not a substitute for DeskPort.

For access away from home, use a private network or VPN you control that makes both devices reachable. DeskPort does not provide a relay or VPN service. Do not expose host ports to the internet as a troubleshooting shortcut.

Android (closed testing)

DeskPort for Android is in Google Play closed testing and is not yet publicly listed. New Google Play developer accounts must run a closed test with testers opted in for 14 consecutive days before applying for production, and that requirement has not been met yet. Closed-test installs are still a paid download on Google Play. A free claiming period ran Sep 25–Oct 8, 2026; Google Play requires a waiting period before the next one, so the next free period is expected next month. Redemption codes do not work yet. If Play shows a price, please wait rather than pay.

How to join: join the tester group, then with the same Google account become a tester.
